Rise of the Empire is an expansion for Imperial Settlers, an easy-to-learn engine building, card drafting, tableau building, resource management, and civilization strategy game for 1 – 4 players, designed by Ignacy Trzewiczek and published by Portal Games. The game has become a worldwide phenomenon and received many expansions with additional factions and new card decks. Rise of the Empire is different, as it introduces a brand new game mode: the Open World campaign, where players strive to quickly go through all the Eras, from Ancient to Modern. The campaign can be played with a changing playgroup. New players can join any time because it mimics the history with new empires rising when the other ones were already highly developed.The game mechanics compensate for those differences keeping the game balanced.
