In the age of exploration the players arrive at a new home far away from their homeland. They try to settle the big island and each player tries to explore one part of it by placing landscape tiles. Landscape tiles grant resources and those are used to erect buildings with special abilities. Barriers on the island have to be removed in order to explore the island even further. Players build valuable statues and supply ships get them the supplies from the old world they need to be a successful settler on Cooper Island.

The special thing about Cooper Island is the way the players mark their victory points. They sail with ships around the island to show their progress. On their way around the island they find smaller islands inshore that grant valuable benefits. After five rounds, a game of Cooper Island ends and the player who developed the best and went on furthest with their ships will win.

This is gem of a game and very much underrated. I have played this game solo against cooper. The rulebook is very clear, probably the best rulebook of the 30 board games I have. Those who like Gaia project will like this game. The economy is tight and the puzzle it offers is interesting.

This is easily one of the best games to come out in 2019. People who like point salady heavy games may not like this. Scoring is extremely difficult in this game. There are so many things to do in this game and you get only 10 actions(it's a worker placement game consisting of 5 rounds and each player has 2 workers to begin with) in total to do them. If you play well, you may get few additional actions. This game has spatial puzzle in the way you lay your tiles. It has clever resource management. There is not much player interaction apart from the fact that the worker spot you want to take may be occupied by another player in which case you have to pay that player to put your worker on that spot. The only problem with the game is that once you are able to crack this puzzle and attain a high score , it may feel samey after that. But to be able to achieve that is not very easy. Game looks great on the table. Some of the components reminds of Terra Mystica. Gamers looking for a complex game should have a crack at this game atleast once.
