For millennia, Odin and Zeus have tolerated and respected each other, but a shortage of followers and a thirst for glory have pushed them into an unwanted war with uncertain and fickle gods.
Each player controls a pantheon, either Greek or Norse, with a deck of 17 cards.
Each turn, a player draws the first card from his deck. He can either discard it or play it. If he discards it, he draws a new card, which he is obliged to play. Playing a card means placing it orthogonally adjacent to a card already in play. When a card is placed in play, apply its effects and compare its strength with that of adjacent cards.
Adjacent cards of lower strength are captured, i.e. they become the allegiance of the card played.
Mythic Arena proceeds in this way, alternating quick turns, until a 4-card by 4-card square is formed. Score 1 point by creating alignments of 3 cards of your allegiance, and 3 points by having the most allegiance visible at the end of the game.
